Ask for proper, fully adjustable FoV and you can enjoy a more suitable FoV on *any* ratio (although you can't expect game designers to frame their cutscenes for multiple aspects, they're always going to be 16:9) Locking one side's FoV and expanding the other is stupid and is always going to screw someone over. Please stop asking developers for '21:9 support'. Pray that each game gives you a larger FoV/complain on the Internet when it doesn't. Buy an overpriced 21:9 display, deal with all manner of screwy implementations/black bars on 16:9 cutscenes etc. Run a 21:9 ratio on a 16:9 display, get a more suitable FoV but lose a bunch of screen real-estate Ģ. Use a 16:9 display, suffer low TV/console FoVsĢ. 21:9 display manufacturers must be laughing all the way to the bank.ġ. This has resulted in the absolutely ridiculous scenario we're in now where if you want a larger FoV that better suits desk play, you have to buy an overpriced 21:9 monitor. Instead of allowing full FoV adjustment, developers are generally locking the FoV for one direction and expanding the FoV in the other based on the aspect ratio of your screen. This results in a FoV that's too low for close up, desk play. Games are made for consoles first, 16:9 with a FoV that suits a TV at distance. If you play PC games sat at a desk, you are almost certainly getting a sub-par experience because of how developers are handling FoV.
